Work restarts on major Kingdom Park development in Kirkcaldy as lockdown relaxed

Construction work has restarted on Murray Estates’ mixed-use development in Kirkcaldy after being paused on 23rd March due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  The development will deliver 1,088 homes (15% of which will be affordable), retail and leisure units, improvements to the local road network, education provision and open space.  The initial phase of infrastructure works is due to be completed in the Autumn which will provide serviced sites to housebuilders and retail developers.  Investment for the initial phases has been supported by the Scottish Government’s ‘More Homes’ initiative – Housing Infrastructure Fund.

The principal building contractor for the development, I&H Brown, recommenced construction works on 15th June in accordance with the guidelines produced by the Scottish Government.  The site will continue to operate with a number of precautions, including re-programming of the works to minimise the number of people on site to allow physical distancing, staggering shifts and break times and providing full-time cleaning services to meet the requirements of the COVID-19 construction sector guidance.
